HOLY COW! It's your birthday!

So I started this post the other day. I was trying to figure out how I am going to edit my pictures once picnik goes away.
I don't want to learn another way, but I have to. There are so many choices. I uploaded a couple pictures to Flickr and found out I could make a blog post straight from the photo.  That is great if it is going to be a one photo post.
How many one photo posts have I done?  Back to the drawing board I will go.  When I figure out something that works for me I will be sure to pass it on.

I wanted to share a birthday card.  The cut came from none other than the Create A Critter cartridge.  I have used this cow on a couple birthday cards now.  It is a fun cut! (but then which cuts on CAC aren't fun?)  A friend of mine asked if I could make a birthday card for her.  She was making a "HOLY COW" cake for the recipient and wanted a card that was similar.
Here is the card (and the photo was uploaded using Flickr)

I don't know what is going to happen when I hit post, please bear with me!!!****
The text between the stars was uploaded with the photo. Always something to learn!!! I was going to delete it but then thought it would be nice to share what happens when you hit the blog button from Flickr.

This next photo is the inside of the card and is also stored at Flickr. I used the url of the photo to add it to this post.  There was a great amount of frustration and confusion the other day which is why the post never got finished until today. Here's the inside of the card!

Four cards, one cut!

It did something here today it hasn't done much of this winter. It snowed. Kinda crazy. The sun is shining now and everything appears so bright!

I have four cards to share with you. A lady I work with asked if I could make her some simple cards with a white dog.

It was amazing to me how much just a piece of paper changes the mood/tone of a card.

Take a look.  The dog is from, yep!, Create A Critter.

The cards are all A7 size cards

All cards are blank inside so Nancy can personalize them for her needs.

The paper on the first three cards is from the DCWV Lemon Flower Matstack.
The paper on the card below is from the DCWV the Tradewinds Matstack.

Simple but fun.  Thanks so much for stopping by!!!!

Thank you Card

After I posted the Linky Followers post I went roaming the streets of blog world. I came across some fabulous blogs. I also came across a blog that had a list of card challenges, most of the blogs I hadn't seen before.
One of the first blogs I came across in the challenge list was Unscripted Sketches. They post their new sketch on Saturdays. I was intrigued. I would often refer to sketches when scrapbooking, so why hadn't I thought to look for card sketches? I did go in search of other sketches after coming across Unscripted Sketches. I also spent a few more hours roaming the blog streets and Pinning. It seemed like the better way to spend the evening since I felt like I was fighting a cold and Jim was working. I had tried napping and didn't succeed there. I tried being creative and that didn't happen either. Thank you to all those blogs and pinning!!! oh and some Big Bang Theory reruns!

Anywho!!!!!! Back on track! Here's my card!

I just love Changito the Monkey! He is by Stampendous!
I am on a mission to get as many Changito stamps as I can. I love them ALL!!!!!
As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use this stamp.
I didn't know what else was going on the page, but I knew I was using this stamp!!
I used Stampin' Up watercolor pencils and the blender pen to color him in.

Here's the sketch:

Here is where you can find the link for this sketch at Unscripted Sketches!
Thank you Unscripted Sketches for the challenge!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!! I hope to see you again soon!!!
hugs ~Jen and the napping nearby Jynx.

Lots o Cards :)

Hey Everyone! Sorry for the missing in action status this week.

I have a few Valentine's to finish up and then I am done with Valentines.  This post isn't about Valentines though. It is going to be full of pictures though.

I was in Joann's the end of last week with a coupon...dangerous right?  Well it was definitely dangerous! Last week all the things I thought I needed were on sale and the coupon was good on regular and sale price items. A girl's happy place right? I challenged myself. I bought a set of K&Company diecuts and wanted to see how many cards I could make with the set.  Here's one of the sets I bought and the one featured in this post.

Here is what I did.
I didn't use all the pieces as there were some that didn't overly excite me.

The inside of the birthday card

The rest of the cards are blank on the inside.

I really like how this next one turned out. I left the sentiment space blank since I feel this card could be used for a number of things. When the time comes it will stamp it with the appropriate sentiment!

I am going to send the following card to my Grandma.

This last one is a fave too. The hydrangea look like they are tied with similar twine as the card.

I did have a handful of cuts left that no matter what I did with them I didn't like them on a card.
I kept them because they could make scrapbook page additions.
I have purchased a few other sets like this.
I will share when I do.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a GREAT weekend!!

Have you repurposed lately?

Here's a little something for those that aren't as excited about the paper crafts as some of us are. I get it and I'm not offended. I'm just glad you are stopping by/back by!

We had a pig roast at my Granddad's this past summer. Friends, family and good food - it had to be a good time right? It was! Sunday morning as we were finishing clean up, I walked into the garage. Something sparked me to look up. Up I looked and in the rafters of my Granddad's garage was the crib my Mom, my Aunt, and my Uncle slept in as babies.  Go ahead, you can do a little happy dance. I know I did.

Just because it was there didn't mean it was coming home with me. My Grandfather doesn't like to part with his things. I understand that.  I can also appreciate that.  However, this was in the garage.... I went and found my Mom and my Aunt and we all looked up and carried on a conversation about the crib. Mom decides she's gonna ask Granddad if we can bring the crib home with us. *if you have started to chuckle, you are right on the money*  Mom asks if Jim and Jennifer can take the crib home with them.  My Granddad get this look, actually I think it was multiple looks at one time on his face. He stutters a bit, laughs, smiles and looks at me and says "Are you trying to tell us something Jennifer?" Now everyone is laughing.

We 'rescue' the crib (all pieces and they are all there). It was like our own "American Pickers" - the home game. Crib saved, memories made, let's make the couple hour drive home.

Last weekend we finally did something with part of the crib.  Yes, we! Jim drilled the holes and brought the piece downstairs. {thank you}

 Here's a peek.

Had to get a picture of it before it went on the wall right?

and then of course one once it was on the wall

and then it stayed like this for a few days
hey! I knew I wanted the wreath on it, but hadn't thought about the rest of it

This is the current solution to 'the rest of it'
I have a couple ideas in mind that require some construction so...

vintage valentines and mini clothespins {smile}

here is a little more info on the shutter shelf. Once I found the link I had to chuckle.
This was one of the first blog posts ever.
Still a cute shelf though!

What do you think? I hope you will leave a comment.
I also hope to see you again soon!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

You're dino-mite! Create A Critter Valentine #7

This post is short and sweet! This card uses the dinosaur found on page 50 of the Create A Critter handbook.

The card is a 4x5 card.
The background paper is from the All About Boys DCWV stack.
The sentiment was made by using stamps from a couple Paper Studio sets.
I cut the dino and all three of his layers - 4 cuts total.
I think this would make a great birthday card for a boy too.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a dino-mite weekend!!!
