An argyle Thinking of you card.

Hey Everyone! I hope you are well!! I'm sorry I haven't been around. I guess I need to accept the fact, that blogging just doesn't fit in my schedule some days. Sad, isn't it?

We do have a few more batches of canning to do and then I can share a picture of the canning cellar with you. It sure is pretty! The end of canning means the end of the garden. We do have a few things still growing, but clean up of the rest of the garden needs to take place. The weather forecast looks good for most of the week!

A friend's friend's fur baby passed away recently. My friend asked if I could make her a card to give to her grieving friend. I told her absolutely. I will say it is much more fun to make happy cards, but I thought it was sweet she cares enough about her friend to send a card. (ok, ok, yes I thought it was cool she asked me to make the card! But you really already knew I thought it was cool)

I came home and was looking through some of my cartridges and consulted Google. I wasn't seeing a whole lot on Google that was inspiring. I didn't care for the cards that had dogs off of the Create A Critter cartridge. They seemed a little too cutesy for this situation. Awhile later I pulled out the Wild Card cartridge and was looking through it and found the PERFECT cut!!! The friend that asked me to make the card LOVES argyle!

The argyle card is the 2nd cut on the Wild Card cartridge and is on page 33.

I cut everything at 6 inches.
I used my Gypsy to make the cuts.
I have read that if you aren't using a Gypsy you should always cut the envelope first and then the other cuts.

This is the blackout feature and BOTH icon cuts!

Blackout card and both icon cuts layered together.
You can see I ran my ribbon behind the cuts.

The ribbon tied and sentiment attached.
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up Sincere Salutations

Do you see the frog?? The pointy thing that is holding the card???
I now have two of them. One of my girlfriends went on vacation a month ago.
She was in an antique store in Illinois and saw them and brought them home for me.
The second one is much larger. I will share it soon.

The inside sentiment - I searched Google for quotes about dogs.
I decided on this one. I'm sorry the photo is blurry.
It says
"A good dog never dies. He always stays. He walks beside you on crisp autumn days when frost is on the fields and winter's drawing near. His head is within our hand in his old way" by Mary Carolyn Davies

I cut the envelope using the blackout feature.
The paper was onesided, which is perfect for an envelope!
The Created for you is a Stampin' Up stamp as well.
You didn't really think I wouldn't put anything on the envelope did you??

I love how the card turned out.
My girlfriend loved the card and commented on the argyle.
Jim thinks I should make Christmas cards using this cut.
SO, perhaps you will see this cut again.

This is part of why I haven't been around.
I'm making these coffins and selling them.
Some people are giving them to their child's teachers and others are giving them to the kids in their family.
I have an assortment of things to put in them. I have things for adults and kids.
Some people are buying them empty to fill with their own stuff and others like the one stop shop idea.
If you missed the post on these coffins, it is here.
I may need to do another post showing all the different ways they have been decorated. What do you think?

What kind of Halloween projects are you working on??

Thanks so much for stopping in.
Hugs! ~ Jen

Happy New Year! and a card!!

Happy New Year Everyone! I know I am glad to close the door on 2011. While things could always be worse, we are truly hoping for some better times in 2012! We hope 2012 is a better year for everyone!!!!

Mother Nature has decided to start the year off with our first winter storm.  I had adopted the thought of "It didn't snow for Christmas, so it doesn't need to snow at all!" Well, Ma Nature feels differently.  It is pretty wild that we are this far into the winter weather season and this is our first major snow fall, with the most accumulation to come overnight. That brings a whole new meaning to "We'll see what tomorrow brings"

One day this week I will share with you one of the coolest Christmas presents I received. It has been hung, now it just needs photographed. :) I also need to share the gift I made for Jim, it too, needs photographed. The other thing I have to share is a post about a CARS theme birthday party. So-----as long as I sit down in front of this computer each night this week there will be some fun to be had! :-)

Since it was snowing out and Jim was working, I made a cup of hot peppermint tea and sat down to craft. I did make some cards this evening. Here is one of them.

The paper is from DCWV Madly in Love stack.
The stamp is from studio g and is stamped with Stampin' Up Very Vanilla.
The card was cut using the heart card from the Wild Card cartridge and was cut at 5 inches.
The black heart was cut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and was cut at 2.5 inches.

The inside is blank because....I don't have a Happy Valentine's Day stamp. Oh darn!!! Gonna have to go shopping...
Have a great week and a Happy New Year!!!!

Coloring the Blog World Pink for Cure!

Today I am linking up to the Artsy Girl Connection. Marilyn is having a blog hop party and it is all about pink, hope, faith, courage, awareness, etc in hopes of growing awareness around breast cancer. Please follow the link at the bottom of this post to see more posts and the others that are participating!

Breast Cancer is a fight for all. Friends, family and acquaintances all fight in some way! Support groups are needed and can be amazing! More than one person in my circle of friends and family have been part of the breast cancer fight. Keep Calm and Fight On! You don't have to do it alone!!!

My Great Aunt had breast cancer. To memorialize her fight with breast cancer her daughters and granddaughters got these tattoos. (designed by one of the granddaughters) {heart}

I found the following tattoos on Pinterest....
no source listed

no source listed

My Grandma also had breast cancer. She was told she wouldn't get to see her three kids grow up. She proved those doctors WRONG! She lived to see her Granddaughters grow up to be 28 and 32. GO GRANDMA!! My Grandma was definitely a fighter and had been all her life.

Here is a photo of my Grandparents, my Mom, my Aunt and my Uncle from 1967

The day we celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary
{heart}

They even danced on this day! It was quite a sweet moment.

Grandma had fought for a lifetime (against one thing or another). 3 months after this picture was taken Grandma didn't have the strength to fight anymore. She sure did prove those doctors wrong though. Like I said before, she was told she wouldn't see her kids grow up. She not only watched them grow up, she watched her Granddaughters grow up and she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary! Perhaps the stubborn trait I have inherited isn't a bad thing!

A pair of Grandma's ear rings...

I made a card for breast cancer awareness.

The inside says "Don't forget to get your hooters checked."
The picture of the inside was blurry or I would have shared it.

There are plenty of facts and statistics out there. I know they are included in some of the blog posts that are part of the hop. It isn't something to take lightly. Keep Calm, fight on and get your hooters checked!

Supporting The Fighters
Admiring The Survivors
Honoring the Taken
{hugs, kisses to my taken, my survivors and my fighters. i do know and love people in all three categories}

I am also linking up here Sunday's Best Linky Party!

A house, a cupcake and a frog Oh My!

Here are some of those paper projects you've been waiting for! I have three cards to share. A house for our friend Ashley. A cupcake for another friend's niece and a frog for our friend Connie.

The house...is for our friend Ashley and her family.  They just bought a new house. The Lady at the post office wished I hadn't sealed the envelope...she wanted to see the house.
The card and the envelope were cut using the Wild Card Cartridge. The envelope was cut at 7 3/4 and the card was cut at 7 1/2.
I hand cut the pots for the trees. There are trees on the cartridge for this purpose but I wanted to stamp my trees. I used the tree from the Stampin' Up "Loads of Love" set. I hand wrote "Welcome Home" on the inside of the door.

Congratulations on the new house Ashley and family! <3

A cupcake...birthday card for another friend's niece.
The cupcake was also cut from the Wild Card Cartridge. I just cut the pieces out, I didn't cut the actual card out. The 8 was cut out with the Plantin Schoolbook cart. The papers were in the 'scrap drawer'. I think I need  to make a BUNCH of cards out of the scrap drawer (s). I hope she likes it!

A frog...for our friend Connie's birthday!

The frog was cut with the Create A Critter Cartridge. (I am sorry to say I didn't write down the size of the cut).
I used one of my Sizzix folders to emboss her lily pad with Happy Birthday!
I used Stickles on the crown! The papers the frog, the lily pad and the crown were cut from were in the scrap drawer. I combined parts of two different stamps from the Stampin' Up Turtle & Co. set. The background piece is from the DCWV Lemon Flower matstack.

Happy Birthday C!!!!! <3

I am linking the frog up to Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. The challenge was to add the color yellow to your project!

I am linking the house up to Cricut Cardz Challenge. The challenge was to use the card feature on any cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment.  Enjoy this holiday weekend!
