Gingerbread Man Christmas Cards

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Today I am sharing with you a few Christmas cards I have made using the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge. I started with the cut on page 65.

I used my Gypsy to hide the cookie and the contours of the gingerbread man.

I cut them out, decorated them, and then put them on cards.  Here is the end result!

Have you Thanked a Veteran today?

I hope so. I just got off the phone with my Granddad! He participated in a ceremony at his American Legion this morning. He said they also went to the Elementary School for a program and the kids there put on a "real nice program" We had a nice chat.

My Mom's Dad and Jim's Mom's Dad were both in WWII. The stories these men have to tell, they are truly something to hear. If you haven't thanked a Vet yet, it isn't too late. Give them a call or a visit tomorrow.

A Pine cone Tree

I was going through the pictures on my computers and came across this pine cone tree that I made last year. I am pretty sure that credit for this project goes to none other than Martha! We had a couple bags of pine cones upstairs, as well as a styrofoam cone and of course I own a glue gun (or two).

You will need a styrofoam cone similar to this one. 

 I don't know who made the one I used or what size it was. That was last fall, well before blogging. :)

You will also need a fair amount of pine cones (we had big ones on hand), a glue gun and glue sticks, and if I were to do it over again I would wear gloves to keep your hands from getting all chewed up by the pine cones.

Glue your pine cones on and you end up with something like this

Why are you looking at it funny? Doesn't everyone use wooden salad bowls as props for seasonal decorating?

Add some lights and put it in the fireplace and you have this:

Above it is decorated for fall and Thanksgiving. Below it is decorated for Christmas.

A string of brown lights would have looked better, but we had the green strand here so that is what we used.

I was pretty pleased with the project. I am pretty sure it will return for this Christmas Season.

Christmas Cards using Winter Woodland Cartridge

Hellooo? I didn't fall of the planet, I promise!  I do apologize for being MIA. I knew I was going to be for a day or two, but I DEFINITELY did not plan on it being this long! I sorry! :(


My time away from blogland was very busy, both productive and unproductive busy. I am sure that makes sense to more people than just me. The outside furniture that needed put away for the winter has been put away and the garden waterfall and the bird baths have been brought in. The one garden (I am thinking about some garden posts in the middle of winter and 6 plus inches of snow and ridiculous temperatures) is completely empty, while the others are feeling the effects of the heavy frosts we have had recently. It is still pretty in its own way (that is how Mother Nature is), but it doesn't compare to the Glory Days of Spring and Summer! The first and second rounds of leaves have been raked as well. Maybe the third time will be a charm and I will get some pictures. I left the camera in the house so I would be more inclined to get work done :)


ANYWAY!!! You didn't come here for all the hub-bub. You stopped by for projects!  Let's get to it!!!! The real stars of these cards are the packing tape, yes I said packing tape, and glitter. I used Martha Stewart glitter! and I do have to admit I saw this idea somewhere else online a long time ago. I don't know remember where I saw it so I can't give credit where credit is due, But THANK YOU!!!

I used the card feature on the Winter Woodland Cricut Cartridge. I cut a couple of the snowflakes. Snowflake #4 is by far my fave for this project! The deer is also from the Winter Woodland Cartridge. I was playing around with sizes, so each one is a little (or a lot) different.

Here a turkey, there a turkey!

I told you yesterday that the turkeys made their way out of the tote! What is bothering me is I swear I/we picked up a turkey or two at yard sales this summer, but I only found one. Could I have possibly picked them up and set them back down? It would seem so or I will find them in another month. (wait until you see all the yard sale/estate sale treasures that are waiting to be loved again) Alright, before I am tempted to go get those items out and take pictures and become COMPLETELY distracted...back to Thanksgiving!

What do you think about the turkey? He is one of those plastic cake toppers. You know, the ones that get pressed into the icing (hmmm....yum). Picked him up at a yard sale for a dime. I wasn't sure what I would do with him then but when I took him out of the China cabinet this is where he ended up. What? Where do you put your out of season yard sale/estate sale/flea market finds? :)

I needed the crock that was in the center so that meant something to had to fill in that hole. That move created another hole. Am I the only one that moves half the house around? I'm pretty sure I'm not. I've read some of your posts. :)

Not only do I move half the house around, I have a tendency to move things around multiple times. Look at what is on the table now. I think it is an illness, but I guess it could be worse.

With the crock on the table, the basket needed a new home!

But....to put the basket there....yep I had to move some stuff...perhaps I could market an exercise program doing this... This is what was on the victrola before the basket landed there...

And the lamp ended up here!

Here is one shot of the mantel.  Only a couple small changes were made.

A Pinterest Inspired Project

Awhile back I saw a photo and thought "What a great idea! I know we have ours from our first Christmas in this house." (where to find it was a different thought to myself) I "pinned it" for future reference.

If you still aren't with me, it is the cut off the fresh Christmas tree. Our first Christmas in this house we had a real tree. I thought we could do something cool with this part so I kept it. I found it on the front porch as part of the decoration there. It was drab and sad looking and showing some signs of being outside and unloved. (perhaps it is thanking pinterest right now...or perhaps I should've gotten more sleep)

and ended up with this...I like. Do you?
