A Peace Sign Birthday Card

Happy Weekend Everyone!!! Earlier in the week was Jim's Mom's birthday. We had a weenie roast out back. Jim's Mom and Step-Dad, and Jim's Grandparents joined us out back. We, of course, had too much food. Jim's Mom LOVES the peace sign!!!

A little sidewalk chalk birthday sign.
She loved it!!

Jim's Mom is one of the easiest people for me to make cards for.
She appreciates them on so many levels.
When she has some to send, she puts some thought in to who she sends them to.
She wants to send them to people that will appreciate them as well.
Her birthday was no different. Jim and I talked about what to make and it came together like a charm!

Ready to take a look at how it came together???

This ribbon came home after a trip to Hobby Lobby.
I had Jim's Mom in mind when I bought it, but figured I could also use it for a number of things.
I hadn't used it yet.
I pulled the ribbon out and the ribbon determined the colors for the card!

I used the Disney/Pixar Cars cartridge to cut the peace sign and the circle for behind it.
I cut everything at 4.5 inches.
I did cut the peace sign twice. I want to add some dimension.
You can see in the photo above that I used foam dots (or squares actually) to give the dimension.
I used the squares between the yellow and the first peace sign and then between the two peace signs.

I added some ribbon across the top.

and a sentiment across the bottom.
The sentiment is from a set of Christmas stamps I have that is made by Fiskars.

Added some more ribbon to the inside, as well as a sentiment.

She also received A LOT of stamps on the back!!
I don't normally put that many on the back, but this was fun!!

The  front of the card and the front of the envelope.
Yep, added more ribbon there.
Apparently I was ribbon happy the other day!

Ah yes! My favorite part. If you have been here to see other cards, you know I like to add a little something to the back of my envelopes. This one was no exception.
I added a peace sign stamp (not sure who it is made by)
I also added a little quote sticker.

I think it turned out pretty cool and she LOVED it!!!!!

Yep! We sang happy birthday to her!
How fun! After cake, we sat around the fire for awhile.
It was too bad we did this on a week night. We could have sat around the fire for quite some time!!

What do you think of the card??
It was pretty simple.
If you make one, I'd love to see you share it on the Facebook page!!!!

Peace!

A Cars Birthday Party...take two

I have another Cars birthday party to share with you. I can tell you I still had plenty of bad things to say about the small cuts the second time around. They do turn out cute though!

I used my Gypsy to put the 2 in the piston cup.
It's a party is a rubber stamp, as is McQueen.
The cards were American Crafts blank cards.

The inside is all computer/printer generated.
The invitations were the easy part. :)

Here is one of my Cricut mats laid out.
I used my Gypsy to lay out all the cuts. (such a great yard sale find that was)
This paper is for Sarge...

I used Glossy Accents to make dark green sections of Sarge shiny.
Even at this larger size, there were still some cuts so small they shredded themselves while being cut.

Here is the mat for Guido (and a brown cut for someone else...hmmm...)

I inked around the edges on some of the pieces to give them a little more definition.

Added some of this to a couple buckets.
Stuck the pieces in and....

and

I used a combination of skewers and the sucker sticks (the ones you would use when making chocolate molds) as the sticks for each piece. I tried to cover them up when I could with a back. I used that red super sticky double sided tape.

....here they are together....

Here's the outside of the birthday card too...
The 'flag pole' is a toothpick.
Mater is a rubber stamp.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope this gives you some ideas/inspiration.
If you do a Cars party I would love for you share your photos on our Facebook page.
You can find the FB page in the right hand side of the blog.

hugs ~jen

A Cars Birthday Party

We partied on New Year's Day! A birthday party for a very special 2 year old boy! Steph's (yes, the Steph I mention often) little boy turned two. The theme was Disney/Pixar's Cars.  Steph and I (and some help from Jim too) made the invitations.  Steph and I agreed on ideas for the tables and what sorts of decorations she wanted. She did the shopping and I went to work.

Let's take a look!

Here's the invitation:
We stamped the front...

The inside was done using Word... (and the thing this invitation is sitting on...a sneak peek at the Christmas present I want to share with you *smile*)

The birthday banner was cut out using the street sign shapes found on the Disney Pixar Cars Cricut cartridge. (I believe we went with 5.5 inches) The letters were cut out using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

I cut out various other shapes from the Cars cartridge and put them on skewers. There is floral foam inside the buckets and I stuck the skewers into the foam.

The cuts on this cartridge are very intricate. McQueen was cut at a couple different sizes. I don't know if he is truly a pain in the bottom side or if I was too tired to be working on the project, but he ended up in the trash *gasp*
I do like how the buckets turned out. It was super windy the day of the party so some of the shredded paper covering the floral foam blew away.

The tables were decorated like roads...

Now I can't take credit for the cake, but it wouldn't be a party without a cake right? Here's the cake. It was done by our local bakery. I think they did a fine job!

Happy Birthday Buddy!!! Love and hugs from Uncle Jim and Aunt Jen {heart}
Steph, I hope the craftiness lived up to your expectations! It was fun (and I'm still taking over in October next year...love you too!)

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you will leave a comment. I am linking up at Someday Crafts for Whatever Goes Wednesday and Passionately Artistic
