Reindeer Card using Create A Critter

Hey Everyone! Tomorrow is December 1st. Where oh where did this year go? These last "few" days will go unbelievably fast since it is such a busy time of year.  So much to share this time of year too.

Today I am sharing a card made using the Cricut Create A Critter cartridge. I used the reindeer cut. I used my Gypsy and filled the page up. I cut three different layers to make this adorable reindeer Rudolph.

I cut them out, put them together and put each one on a card. Isn't it cute????

I also used...

and

And of course red glitter glue for his nose. I used premade 4in x 5in cards in green and red...

I stamped the inside of the cards with this Stampendous! Stamp

I was thinking I was going to make a set of reindeer for the wall but I am not sure there is enough time given all the other things I want to  make for other people. Perhaps I can make reindeer for myself after Christmas. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you will leave a comment and come back again soon~!

Have you repurposed lately?

Awhile back I mentioned we had gotten some freebies! It is time to share one of them. I am still trying to figure out why Christmas decorating leads to other projects like moving almost EVERYTHING, but I am glad it did. Our kitchen has a couple things about it that always annoy me just a little. I am not going to get into those details, but things are looking up with a few changes!!!

Anyway, we had gone to pick up some old wooden doors from a friend's Mom. When we got there, there were a couple pieces of wood with a design on them sitting next to the doors.  She said they just looked like something we would like. ...and like we do!!!!!!

There were two of these.  The other one is brown, not painted. Moving some things around (like a microwave) changed the visual appeal. There I was in the kitchen saying to myself (and Jim if he was within ear shot) "But what on Earth will go on the wall now.....?" and then, the moment we all love, the light bulb came on!!!!! and off to the basement I went. We hung it up (after we moved previously mentioned microwave) and wah lah! Here is what we have!

Jim added two of the knobs off of the kitchen cupboards that were in this house when we bought it.
You can't really see them, but I promise they are there.

Moving the microwave has gained us some counter space.  woo hoo!!!!!! I think it looks nice here too.

Freebie style is definitely fun fun fun!!! I hope you will let me know what you think. I am off to pick up the odds and ends of the disaster area Christmas decorating, and clean the house. I am so ready for the clutter to go away. I also have incentive to get it cleaned up today because we have some friends coming over tonight. The boys will be playing cards and watching sports and I am thinking us girls will have some wine and crafts!

Hope to see you again soon!!!! ~Jen (I really need to learn how to make a signature!)

Yard Sale Christmas...

Hi everyone! I needed a break from the computer, especially since I work with one all day.  I was also busy decorating for Christmas AND doing something I don't normally do and actually spent some time doing NOTHING over the weekend. Okay it wasn't actually nothing, it was enjoying some hot tea on the couch with Jynx while Jim was working and watching those hopelessly romantic and great acts of humanity movies on the Hallmark channel. Total ME time. I don't do that very often.

The house isn't completely done yet, but close. Maybe it can be finished when I am done working for the day.
I am going to share with you some of our yard sale finds from this summer. You will have to be on the lookout for these items when I finally share the decoration pictures. I will be sure to point out other yard sale treasures as we go along.

No great projects (or not so great) just some pictures to ponder and possibly a peak into Christmas past. The following are pictures of things we picked up this summer. What would you do with them?

 A cool vintage village

A Santa's PJs stocking

lots of icicles

some small finds (they were part of a box of stuff)

picnic baskets

a nutcracker

A cool little santa mug that is...
MADE IN THE USA!!!!!!! woo hoo!!!! :)

Picked this beauty up for just a couple bucks! :)

...bulbs...

YES! Those are bobble heads.

Where will they or where have they found a home? That is a question. Most of the things in the last photo have a home. There are a couple that keep getting moved around. It has been fun. The big Santa in the above picture, we got him for 50 cents!!!! fun!

Here is a look into Christmas Past. I love mischievous elves. Where will they end up this year? That is a great question. Only four of them have been given homes so far.

Have you started Christmasing or will you be waiting until after the turkey coma? I hope to see you again soon. Thanks so much for stopping by! ~jen

Hang in there card

A friend of ours is going through one of those rough patches in life. She has found out her husband hasn't been faithful. My heart aches and breaks for her daily. *i don't talk about it much these days, but i have been in her shoes. i have felt this hurt. i have felt these feelings of where do i go from here...this isn't what i had in mind when this relationship began...and to top it all off-so close to the holidays. these days, this time in my life is referred to as my 'former life.' Jim likes to call it my dark ages. in comparison, he is so right. I AM IN SUCH A BETTER PLACE NOW and am most thankful for Jim and our amazing support group of friends and family! I am also thankful for you, my readers!! Together with our friends and family I have this amazing support group to do things I have wanted to do for a long time. Enough about me. I know that our friend is hurting inside, silently at times because she thinks people are tired of hearing about it. I thought I would make her a little pick me up, a hug in an envelope sort of thing, a hug she can take anywhere if she chooses, something she tuck in her purse and if it is a bad moment - she can pull it out and be reminded that she is awesome and that she is a woman which means she has been given the tools to survive this and be even more incredible than she already is (that is what we women do)
I started with these pieces...

The paper is from The Paper Studio. The monkey and all the pieces were cut at 3 inches using the Create A Critter cartridge!

I stamped the inside with the following:

The stamp is from the Fiskars Laugh with me Quote set. It has some great quotes on it. I also included a note on separate piece of paper. I decided the note was personal and if she wanted to display the card, she shouldn't have to also display her business.

While the supplies were out I made a second card. The inside of this card is still blank so it can be personalized at a later date. I should have made a couple more. My TWO scrap drawers are overflowing with paper. Once the holidays are over I am going to try to make some cards or projects using the scrap drawers. It is crazy how much paper is in there!!! anywho, here's the second card...

I used my MS customizable stamp set to make the "hang in there." I am pretty happy with how they turned out. The monkey is as cute as can be.
Our friend sent me the sweetest email after she got her card. I have gone back and forth about whether or not to share it here and have decided not too. Let's just say I won't stop making cards anytime soon!!!!
I love love love the Create A Critter cartridge. I look at the other cartridges I own and feel bad for them now and then. :)
Thanks again for stopping by. I hope you will leave a comment about the cards so I know you were here. The monkey and I are partying here:

Picture Frame {PEACE}

Hi Everyone! Middle of the week! Thanks so much for stopping by, even if only for a second. Last night I made the first Christmas project that is actually STAYING in OUR house!  YAY!!!! Here is what I started with.
A multi-picture picture frame

Christmas Paper (from Adorn It) with letters cut out using my Cricut (and my Gypsy). The letters are from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

And my two new favorite items....packing tape and glitter!!!!

I put the packing tape on the back of the letters and then sprinkled the glitter onto the packing tape.  This is what I ended up with! I hope you will let me know what you think. I can say that the time change and shorter days don't mix well with someone who crafts in the evening. The pictures pretty much, well, suck! I do apologize.

Do you think all the letters should be red? I am contemplating cutting out new pieces for the green letters and redoing them so all letters are red.  I'm hoping you, my friends here in blog world, will help me out on this.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment so I know you were here. ~Jen
I am partying at the following places!!! Please stop by and check them out!!!!!!

A dinosaur easel card

We had some pretty wicked weather here in western PA last night. I had so many things I wanted to do last night but didn't start because I was pretty sure the power was going to go out. It stayed on. I did start bringing down some of the Christmas stuff. :)

Today I am sharing with you the first easel card I have made. I would definitely say they look far more complex than they are! Or, at least that is how this one felt to me!

A girlfriend of ours and BF use the saying RAWR to say I love you from time to time. She had a picture as her computer wallpaper of a dinosaur with the words "RAWR-It Means I love You in dinosaur" She told me the story and I offered to make her a card.  Here is what we came up with .  The dinosaur is cut from Create a Critter.

The paper is from two different DCWV stacks.
The buttons are from my jar of buttons. :)
Here is a side view.

Here is link I found over at SplitCoast Stampers. If you have never made an easel card I would check this link out and at least bookmark it for later! I found it very useful!

Thanks for stopping by! I need to say rawR to each and every one of YOU, our readers!  Thanks so much for your comments and encouragement!!!
